GSIS unsure as to where UMID card went astray

09:27 PM September 15, 2013

I wouldlike to express my bitter disappointment with the Government Service Insurance System regarding the release of my Unified Multipurpose ID card.

I enrolled anew my UMID-compliant eCard at the GSIS head office in Pasay City last February. I was told that it will be released after a month through our authorized agency liaison officer (LO). A month later, I contacted our LO who told me that he has yet to receive my UMID card. I kept calling the GSIS hotline, only to be told that I just have to wait.

Of late, I went personally to the office releasing UMID cards at the GSIS main office.  I was told that “perhaps” my card was sent to GSIS Tuguegarao. They assured me that they will e-mail GSIS Tuguegarao and find out if indeed my card had been inadvertently sent there.

Not being satisfied with the assurance, I went to the Public Assistance Desk of GSIS and sought an advice on what to do to expedite the release of my card. The officer said that I have to see the manager and personally bring my concern to the person. I did this but through a staff of the manager. I was given telephone numbers for me to dial for follow-up. I’ve called these contact numbers, but no one would answer.

Where is my blessed UMID card? I am beginning to feel hopeless and my patience is wearing thin. Is this not an example of disservice?
