Our rice fields are getting fewer because existing ones are being converted for residential use to serve our ever-growing population and because they command a higher price.
We spend billions of pesos for rice importation. The amount should have been used to build roads, bridges, irrigation, infrastructures, education, health services, etc.
Time will come when rice-producing countries will have no more rice to export because their production would only be enough for their people as their populations are also growing like ours. Without control, our burgeoning population will increase more rapidly. Although we may have the money, there will be no rice to buy.
Now, may I ask those who are opposed to the RH bill especially the hierarchy of the Catholic Church to please explain how we will feed our people by that time?
