Opinion piece on party-list row ‘misplaced’ Placewell

/ 09:06 PM August 09, 2013

The Inquirer, on July 21, 2013, carried an opinion piece titled “Are either Revilla or Napoles defenders of OFWs?”  (Global Pinoy, 7/21/13) written by Susan Andes aka Susan K. The article dragged into the OFW Family Club Party-List controversy the name of Placewell International Services Corp., in the process casting aspersions on it.

We don’t know where Susan K. got her story about our company for she was all wrong.

In the interest of objective journalism, we would like to emphasize that Placewell International Services Corp., founded and established in 1978 and now run and managed by the third-generation members of the family, is a licensed overseas placement corporation of good standing with government agencies regulating overseas recruitment, including the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

Placewell International Services has opened overseas employment opportunities for over 80,000 Filipinos in 13 countries for the last 35 years. It has never been implicated in illegal recruitment, contract substitution and other contract violations, contrary to what Susan K. wrote.

FEATURED STORIES

The POEA has not canceled in March 2013 the license of Placewell International Services Corp.—again, contrary to what Susan K. reported  in her piece.

Lastly, it does not have a consultant by the name of Juan “Johnny” Revilla.

This “shooting-from-the-hip” journalism of Susan K., which found space on the pages of the Inquirer, is damaging to our reputation as a legitimate business entity, and we consider it an affront to our clients who have reposed their trust on our capability to supply them with their manpower needs.
