We would like to thank Ceres Doyo for her continued vigilance against women and children abuse and violence (“CComedia’s statement on the cruel rape joke,” Opinion, 6/20/13). The stand of CComedia is inspiring and should trigger concrete action on the part of print and broadcast media.
I believe gender sensitivity orientation must be pushed not only in the media and film industries but also in other sectors of society.
Each one of us must be gender sensitive so that we become more critical of media’s performance and more respectful of each man, woman and person of different sexual orientation. That’s part of critical media literacy so lacking in schools and homes. I believe companies too must get involved in gender sensitivity programs. Gender sensitivity orientation must be part of a corporation’s HR list of continuing programs for employees.
