HK, Macau activists vow solidarity with Snowden

The International League of Peoples’ Struggle-Hong Kong & Macau chapter joins freedom-loving groups around the world in supporting whistle-blower Edward Snowden who exposed the devious Prism scheme that is an affront to democracy and violates the privacy of American citizens and the people of the world.

At the risk of his livelihood, liberty and maybe even life, Snowden exposed to the world Prism as the latest US electronic surveillance system to monitor communications and movements of targeted people using the leading global technology companies such as Microsoft, Facebook, Google, Yahoo, AOL, Paltalk, YouTube and Apple.

In its assertion of supremacy in the world, the United States plunders national sovereignty, breaks national barriers against foreign intrusion at its own will and attacks the democratic rights of the people. Even Hong Kong and the people of Hong Kong are not exempt from this imperialist machination.

Appropriating for itself the role of global police and a “big brother,” Prism has exposed the US drive to keep people in line with its economic, political, social and military agenda by covert surveillance to preempt actions it deems opposite to its imperialist interests.

Snowden is a technology expert who should be emulated for his unwillingness to sacrifice people’s rights for his own advancement.

Now that he is in Hong Kong, the ILPS-HK & Macau chapter stands by him as he exposes Prism and its implications to the security and democratic rights of the people of the United States and of the world.

We are in solidarity with all human rights advocates and forces fighting against imperialist plunder and covert and overt terrorism in defending Snowden against any attack to his liberty and life.

Snowden’s exposure of Prism has triggered people’s opposition to the United States’ disregard of people’s rights. We in the ILPS-HK & Macau chapter join the people as this opposition snowballs and hits at the heart of imperialist exploitation and oppression.
