Asia Society didn’t sponsor Casanova’s education

We would like to make a correction in Neal Cruz’s May 30 column titled “This Casanova is not a lover but a bully.”

The article stated: “His (Arnel Casanova’s) postgraduate course was sponsored by the Asia Society, an Ayala-backed foundation.”

The Asia Society is the leading non-profit foundation dedicated to promoting mutual understanding and strengthening partnerships among peoples, leaders and institutions of Asia and the United States in a global context. Across the fields of arts, business, culture, education and policy, the foundation provides insight, generates ideas and promotes collaboration to address present challenges and create a shared future.

All our projects are self-funded through generous corporate sponsorships and membership.

Casanova once served as an executive director of Asia Society Philippine Foundation Inc., but our foundation did not sponsor Casanova’s education at Harvard University nor, for that matter, do we do so for any of our employees.

In addition, we are governed and supported by our respected Board of Trustees: our founding chair, Washington Sycip; chair, Doris Magsaysay Ho; and members, including Jorge Araneta, Jose Campos, Teresita Sy Coson, Enrique Gonzales, Oscar Lopez, lawyer Ricardo Romulo, Ed Tortorici, Luis Virata and Jaime Augusto Zobel.

We are backed by a number of organizations and not just by one entity.
