I respectfully nominate Prof. Randy David as the next director general of the National Security Council. The homeland is assaulted all over by enemies both from within and from without.
The country needs a thinker who can provide President Aquino wise counsel to assist him in his decision-making, particularly in troubled times like this.
Professor David’s May 19 column (“Nations and their governments”) on the recent tiff with Taiwan, supposedly an ally but turned “enemy” over a piece of fish, bespeaks his competence and luminous mind. It shows he can think wisely under emotionally charged circumstances and on politically sensitive issues.
I trust that President Aquino and whoever is elected president in 2016—assuming there is a national election three years from now—would seriously consider the wise professor as the presidential adviser on national security affairs.
