We paid our electric bill for the month of March. The total amount paid was P551. Of this amount only P237 was the generation charge. The rest were listed as other charges numbering about 30, with the biggest amount at P14 and the smallest less than P0.05. All of these were listed in a meter-long-roll paper bill. Happily, after going through the bill, I found no charges for the time and effort in creating and inventing these charges and for the cost of the long paper bill.
Conversely, if I were to send the electric distribution utility a bill, it will be only on a small piece of paper with two charges: (1) for mental and physical effects due to sudden, frequent and no-notice brownouts usually occurring in the middle of the night, during dinnertime and during the last minutes (seconds) of thrilling NBA, baseball, tennis, and other games shown on TV; (2) for the cost of candles, matches, batteries and others used during brownouts.
