The bias vs the AFP

THE COMMISSION on Human Rights (CHR) has cleared the military of any involvement in the abduction of Fil-Am and Bayan USA member Melissa Roxas.
Expectedly some groups, especially those that have prejudged the investigation, will try to discredit or even disprove the CHR findings. The CHR absolved the military because even at the start of the investigation, there were a lot of inconsistencies in Roxas’ statements. In the end, it was the New People’s Army which was found culpable for the abduction and alleged torture of Roxas.

A question lurks in my mind: Why is it that when the AFP is cleared of alleged human rights abuses and kidnappings, the so-called progressive groups do not want to take it as the truth? The statement made by Bayan’s Renato Reyes that the NPA will not gain anything from the kidnapping of Roxas raises more questions.

Perhaps it would be best for Reyes and Roxas to work closely with the investigative bodies so that the truth will out and the real culprits behind the abduction can be punished. It would also be wise for them to look deep inside their hearts and cast away any form of bias against and hatred for the AFP, so that they can look at the “abduction case” objectively.
