New partylist group vows to act for retirees

/ 08:50 PM April 28, 2013

Our organization, Abante Retirees, has a noble desire to represent all retirees—whether soldiers, teachers or government employees—who have served our country in their prime. Few realize, however, that there has never been an active organization (like ours now, even though we are still a fledgling group) committed to work for more benefits, rights and privileges due our fellow retirees and the marginalized sectors of our society.

As retirees, we are in the twilight years of our lives but we would want to leave a legacy: that we spend our remaining years in public service. We could have chosen to just while away our time in sports and tours, taking it easy. But we still feel strong and agile, and we know we can still do something good for all retirees and our country.

We would like to inform the public that ours is a true party-list committed to represent the thousands of retirees whose goal is to celebrate our retirement, carrying on the torch of public service.
