I retired from teaching in 2006, but I feel that we retirees are not given proper care and attention. There is no organization that represents us retirees, so most of us can hardly avail ourselves of all the benefits, rights and privileges due us. We are retired soldiers and teachers. As of now, we consider ourselves a marginalized sector of society as we are not properly represented.
This is why I am so happy that a party-list group representing retired soldiers and teachers—Abante Retirees—is fielding candidates in the May elections. This is very good news for retirees. This is an opportunity for us to have our voice heard in government.
This early we would like to thank those behind the creation of Abante Retirees party-list for dedicating their time, effort and commitment to improve the lives of retirees. Kudos to the retirees who all continue to want to serve the people long after they have passed their prime.
