‘Kapalmuks’ applies to some political dynasties
The majority of our politicians today can withstand the harshest, most unbearable sting of the mighty pen. No amount of verbal arsenic can pierce the pachydermous politician’s insensitive facial mask. But senatorial candidate Nancy Binay is not like them. Vice President Jejomar Binay, her father, pitying and comforting his daughter, said Nancy was really hurt by the Inquirer’s Feb. 14 editorial (“Unqualified”).
Now, I formulated an acronym, which I think applies to some of our politicians: “Kapalmuks”—for Kapisanan ng Politikong may Angkan at Lahing Magnanakaw, Ugali ay Kumurakot sa Sambayanan. I am referring to political dynasties composed of political vampires sucking the blood out of Filipinos.
How to right this unrightable wrong? Through people’s initiative? Or the Commission on Elections coming up with a definition of “dynasty”? Then the Supreme Court could be asked what is a political dynasty and its answer or decision would become part of the law of the land, thus eliminating the Kapalmuks.
