‘Worst’ road section already repaired
This is in reference to Fred Diestelkamp’s letter titled “Road repaired after 13 years except for worst part” (Inquirer, 3/2/13).
According to DPWH-Cebu 3 district engineer James D. Dellosa, his office received on Feb. 26, 2013, a letter from Diestelkamp complaining about potholes along the Dumanjug-Barili road in Cebu. In response, the DPWH-Cebu 3 performed the necessary patching and repair work on that particular road section.
The DPWH did not neglect the last three kilometers (going to the Dumanjug boundary) of that road. The section is included in the 2014 Regular Infrastructure Program of DPWH Region 7. It is also covered by a continuing program for permanent concreting, which involves the removal of old, cracked pavements and their replacement with concrete in accordance with the standards for national roads. Subject road used to be a provincial road with only a six-inch thick pavement, the reason for its present road condition.
