This is in reference to the now widely publicized so-called Lacson-Santiago exchange, which was the subject of Conrado de Quiros’ Jan. 21, 2013, column.
It seems that Sen. Panfilo Lacson, doing something he has become known for, brought to light what he claimed were his findings on the misuse of public funds for some private purposes by Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago. Lacson had a point of issue which Santiago was just as free to refute if untrue.
But Santiago’s “refutation” came in the form of a “counterattack,” something along the line of: “You want to dredge up my wrongdoing, I’ll dredge up yours.” Santiago proceeded in a personal retaliatory vein, to the point of casting aspersions on Lacson’s “sexuality.”
Lacson, not departing from his professional stance, calmly stated that he was not gay, and then conceded, in a light vein, that he could be called “under the saya” (henpecked husband).
I must admit that like De Quiros, who is in my list of favorite and respected columnists, I too have, at one time or another, wasted emotions on undeserving people.
