SSS reax to pensioner’s missing contributions

/ 10:48 PM April 11, 2013

This is in reply to Lydio V. Señora’s letter titled “Senior pensioner seeks SSS’ prompt response” (Inquirer, 3/5/13).

In his letter, Señora said the copy of manual verification given by the Social Security System showed gaps in his contribution records, adding that he was hoping for “necessary adjustments” in his retirement pension to factor in the missing SSS premiums.

We already wrote to Señora last Feb. 27, and again on March 5, regarding his concern. Based on SSS records, Señora had no posted contributions prior to 1970, even if he was reported for SSS coverage in June 1960. However, gaps in his contribution records from June 1960, the date of his SSS coverage, until 1984 have no effect on the present computation of his pension.

What is crucial in his request for pension re-computation, however, are his missing contributions from 1988 to 1989. We have already initiated further verification of his SSS contributions for that period, and we will immediately update him on any developments.
