Noralyn Mustafa’s April 1 column, “The lies that bind us,” is verily a pointed segue to her preceding column, “What a bloody tangled web” (Inquirer, 3/18/13) which mentioned the “Sabah standoff.”
It is a must-read for all those who bear the responsibility for, to borrow her words, “the failure… to reconfigure Islamic governance in order to align it with a rapidly changing world,” in the instant case, in relation to Sabah, the Sulu Sultanate and the Bangsa Sug.
Meanwhile, we can only hope for the ties—not the lies—that ought to bind us, Muslim or non-Muslim Filipinos alike, who all have a stake in this matter of Sabah, perhaps, more than we realize.
