Pagbilao municipal trial court corrects three mistakes in Recamata story

/ 11:14 PM March 18, 2013

In a Feb. 12 Inquirer article titled “Ortega slay witness killed, says PAO,” it was reported that “Marlon Recamata is being summoned for inquest proceedings in a murder case docketed as No. 10492-09 before the sala of Judge Maria May S. Zafranco-Redor of the Regional Trial Court in Pagbilao town, in Quezon.”

Please be informed that Marlon Recamata is charged before this court for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, which is “Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority or the Agents of such Persons” and not for the crime of murder as reported. The same accused is being ordered to appear before this court for his arraignment for that offense, not for inquest proceedings.

Further, this court is not a regional trial court but a municipal trial court, which has jurisdiction over violations of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code.
