Reaction from Bohol to Harwell’s ‘letter’

This is in reaction to David Harwell’s “Love letter to Filipinos” (Inquirer, 3/18/13).

I was overwhelmed by his description of Filipinos as a people. I would like to thank him for that letter.

But I also feel there are traits that we Filipinos should be ashamed of. For example, I am not happy with the way some of my countrymen kidnap, torture and kill foreigners who fail to pay their “living expenses fee” while in the custody of their abductors. Other crimes like snatching and extortion are also lamentable. I write this because I detest all kinds of crimes against persons and property.

If you are looking for a place to rest and live in peace, try Bohol province. I cannot fully guarantee you complete happiness, but I am sure you will enjoy Bohol if you live the twilight years of your life there.
