Thank you, Pope Benedict!
Many have their personal opinions on the recent resignation of Benedict XVI from the papacy. Some have voiced apprehension of possible schism and destabilization of the Catholic Church following the resignation.
On the contrary, I see it as a testament to Benedict XVI’s true humility, courage and fidelity to the Church he has served so well these last eight years as pope.
Weakening health and waning strength moved him to make the difficult decision for the good of the Church. His selfless act, instead of destabilizing, is in fact unifying everyone in prayer and sacrifice for his intentions and for the new pope who will be chosen in the upcoming conclave of cardinals in Rome.
