The upcoming May 2013 electoral exercise carries a weird undertone: that the voters are limited to either of only two choices. In other words, the voter’s choice is based on whether he is pro-GMA (Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo) and thus anti-P-Noy (President Aquino); or pro-P-Noy and thus anti-GMA. If you are pro-GMA, you are probably voting for United Nationalist Alliance candidates, or if you are anti-GMA, you are most likely to vote for Liberal Party candidates.
I just can’t figure out how President Aquino made the elections so shallow. The issues get overshadowed by a voter’s dislike for one person. This reminds us of high school student council elections where issues don’t matter and things are so petty.
We don’t want to pin the blame on President Aquino but, come on, he’s the one that keeps bringing up GMA. It’s either him, or his spokesperson or his Team PNoy candidates.
