President Benigno Aquino, in his last State of the Nation Address, said, “All senior citizens or pensioners will receive no less than P5,000 a month.” The Social Security System, our biggest private “security collector” has, so far, done nothing to help its pensioners who are living below the poverty line or those receiving less than P5,000-per-month pension.
Does the SSS have programs similar to the Government Service Insurance System, or does it just collect and collect? The GSIS is seeing to it that starting this year, 2013, all its pensioners will receive no less than P5,000 in monthly pension.
Also included in the GSIS programs are:
1. Cash dividends
2. Cash gifts
3. Annual pension increase
What programs does the SSS have to help its pensioners?
