This refers to Ceres Doyo’s column titled “Etta’s valedictory” (Inquirer, 2/28/13).
Tears welled up in my eyes after reading Commission on Human Rights Chair Etta Rosales’ speech in her column, but equally proud as I imagined Ceres and the rest standing there wearing their shirts emblazoned with those proud words and the people looking up to them, feeling so proud of themselves.
Most of all, I couldn’t help but remember my kuya (elder brother) who was imprisoned at Ipil Center, Fort Bonificao, in the early 1970s for risking his liberty and family to fight Marcos.
I would like to thank Ceres for keeping the spirit of the First Quarter Storm. My kuya Bravo must be smiling in heaven, knowing that the struggle, though unfinished, didn’t go in vain.
