MANING PELAEZ, as he was fondly called, could recount in amazing detail the efforts of Danding Cojuangco in getting the coco levy enacted by Ferdinand Marcos.
When Pelaez bitterly complained, on behalf of coconut farmers, that the coco levy oppressed poor families in the coconut sector, he almost got killed in an ambush near his home.
