May I express my thoughts about the report that “Aquino delivers fighting speech on Bonifacio Day” (Inquirer, 12/1/12). The speech that the President gave was not only about celebrating Bonifacio Day; in that speech he also assailed China for its “aggressive” moves in the West Philippine Sea. As a Filipino, I am thankful that President Aquino does not fear other countries. I am grateful that finally we have a President who stands up against another country, for we have been acting for a long time as if we are afraid of other countries.
As our dear President said, “Now, we are a free nation, no foreign invaders, and no shackles of Spain. We have proven to those who had attempted to enslave our race that we would not be intimidated, and we are ready to fight for what is truly ours.” We should fight for what we have for the Philippines is a free nation.
