Restore Rizal Park, Fort Santiago promenade

AS AN additional tourist attraction and come-on, the National Parks Development Committee and the Intramuros Administration should pool their resources and restore or revive the once pedestrian-friendly promenade along Bonifacio Drive from Rizal Park to Fort Santiago in Manila.

A brainchild of former First Lady Imelda Marcos, the promenade was a hit then and frequented by park-goers strolling from Rizal Park all the way to Fort Santiago. For added sense of security, especially during night time, iconic Spanish lampposts should be installed along its pathway.

Local and foreign tourists would have a better understanding of the Philippines’ colonial past by just walking and passing through the promenade with the famous Intramuros Wall as background.
