Delay in death claim application clarified

/ 12:20 AM November 12, 2012

This is regarding the complaint of Honorato C. Galura about the death claim application of his daughter Edna Galura Santos. Galura said the application has been pending for two years.

The death claim application of his daughter was filed only on March 13 this year. However, it was returned to her via mail on March 20, 2012, since there were important requirements that were not submitted together with the death benefit application.

While it is true that the member, the husband of Edna Santos, died in 2010, his “member data record” with the Social Security System indicated another beneficiary. Thus the claimant, Edna Galura Santos, was advised to submit additional documents to prove her entitlement to the benefit.

According to the SSS Angeles branch personnel, Santos has yet to comply with the requirements.

We therefore request Galura to kindly inform his daughter to coordinate with the SSS Angeles branch in case she was not able to receive the letter sent to her.

May we also inform Galura that on Jan. 31, 2012, we sent a reply to his letter of Dec. 19, 2011.—MARISSU G. BUGANTE, vice president, Public Affairs and Special Events Division,Social Security System
