Like most Filipinos, we are most hopeful that the signing of the government-MILF “framework agreement” will lead to lasting peace. Soldiers and their families are the ones who want most to have peace in our country. It is the soldiers’ primary duty to guard, defend and protect our country and people. And to see peace in Mindanao is not only every soldier’s dream, it is a dream shared by all Filipinos in the entire country, not only Filipinos in Mindanao.
We, wives and relatives of soldiers, whose husbands, fathers, uncles and friends are out there in the “field,” will be very happy to have more time with them and to be with them during the most important occasions in our lives, like birthdays, Christmas and New Year, our town fiesta or a wedding or baptism in the family. This has been a most cherished wish for military wives and relatives like us.
We give our wholehearted support to the peace efforts of the government, and call on everyone to fervently pray that peace be upon us all.
