Aquino needs adviser on diplomacy, right conduct

President Aquino strikes again!

During the 25th anniversary celebration of ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol, which was supposed to be a very cordial and happy occasion, P-Noy, the guest of honor, once again played “killjoy” by openly criticizing the media, particularly TV Patrol’s anchor and former Vice President Noli de Castro, for undue negativity and “baseless speculations.” It was reminiscent of the President’s verbal attack on former Chief Justice Renato Corona during a judges’ forum some time ago. It seems that the good president has the knack for mouthing his tirades against people in the wrong place at the wrong time—when he could have done so privately without causing embarrassment to the people concerned and, thus, ruining a happy and light atmosphere of some event.

I don’t understand why President Aquino is very much alarmed over negative views from the media. He should instead be wary about some members of the media who make, in exchange for some favors, undue “image-building” news stories about politicians, like the father and son who went guesting in a TV show for much-needed exposure in preparation for the 2013 elections.

Since it is obvious that diplomacy isn’t P-Noy’s cup of tea, perhaps, it’s about time that he appoint, for his own personal education, a presidential adviser on diplomacy and right conduct. Anyone?
