Foreign opinions not welcome?

This refers to the letter titled “If this letter-writer is real and an alien, deport him” (Inquirer, 6/15/12).

Why is it when foreigners tell the truth about their adopted land, locals don’t want to hear it and suggest they be deported?

Such is the case of R.B. Ramos, the writer of the letter referred to above. Ramos was mad that another writer, Ed Dames, had made comments (“The verdict,” Inquirer, 6/6/12) concerning the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona. His comments were accurate, but Ramos  didn’t like a foreigner saying such.

Like America and basically the balance of the world, I thought freedom of speech is a natural. Apparently this person doesn’t accept this. Pity! That is why the Philippines is still considered the laughingstock of Asia.
