What shifts the Lady Miriam into ‘overdrive’?

/ 11:12 PM June 06, 2012

It is very ordinary for Miriam Defensor-Santiago to speak in a high-pitched, monotonous sound, which is capable of destroying ear drums. But it is not the high frequency of her voice that is naturally and ultimately refused by the receiver, it is her message.

I am beginning to believe that were Miriam not part of the impeachment trial, Chief Justice Renato Corona would have been acquitted.

Or were her husband part of P-Noy’s administration, she would have voted for Corona’s conviction. It was Miriam’s arrogance that convinced 20 of the 23 senators to render a guilty verdict against Corona.

Miriam always tries to project her achievements. Maybe the motivation is to conceal her disappointments. For example, her grade in the Bar Examination was, according to some reports, only 76 percent, which is far from exemplary. So she feels like an inferior before Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales whose scholastic achievements are way above hers. To make things equal, or perhaps feel superior to Morales, she had to warn the latter: “You are talking to a senator-judge.”
