A call to unity
The problem we are experiencing with China is a serious one that our government has to address at once and for us Filipinos to involve ourselves in. The threat is real and we cannot close our eyes to the fact that what is happening may further worsen. Let’s be alert and carefully study the matter, and this I am especially addressing to our government.
We cannot all just sit around and wait. The dispute must be settled at the soonest time possible, as one government official had declared. There was a letter I read, calling on Chinoys to help the Philippines and convince their compatriots out there to abide by the rule of law and the provisions of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.
Come to think of it, we have to call the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, the Moro National Liberation Front, the Abu Sayyaf Group and other similar groups to defend the one country we all live in and love. They should join the cause of the Philippines against China, for this time there should be no distinction in color, race, creed or ideology.
Article continues after this advertisementThere should be unity in protecting the Philippines from foreign invaders. Philippine history is replete with the heroism of our ancient forefathers who fought with crude tools and weapons to preserve our sovereignty against foreign invaders many times.
We should keep that legacy in place and fight for our rights, whoever we are and in whatever beliefs or ideologies we belong to.
