The defenders of the indefensible

It is one thing to see Chief Justice Renato Corona’s colleagues in the Supreme Court defending him during the impeachment trial.

It is plain esprit de corps. But it is another thing to see those same justices still protecting Corona even after the revelation, late in the trial, that he has several millions in peso and dollar accounts that were never reflected in his statements of assets, liabilities and net worth.

By their canine subservience to their chief, one cannot but conclude that those justices who defended him till judgment day had as much assets in kind and in cash, pesos and dollars, as the chief justice.

They, too, deserve to be booted out.
