New Tiglao emerges with latest ‘accomplishment’
Of late, veteran “journalist” Rigoberto Tiglao has added to his list of “accomplishments” (that is to say, columns in support of his “boss”) his latest foray into “detective work.” He also has uncorked the new Tiglao.
Tiglao’s foray into cyberspace sends him scampering after individuals such as Stephen Monsanto and “Steve Y. Vespera” who, claims Tiglao, does not exist. From this, the great journalist vaults at the conclusion: “It is an alias used by the black propaganda operators of President Aquino to hurl dirt against the Chief Justice…” and then he intones, “Vespera has been this administration’s most successful duplicity foisted on readers of the country’s biggest and most respected newspaper.” Fancy that!

There’s more: “No search engine reports a Steve Vespera. No Filipino even has that surname; only a handful of people on the planet do, with none of the first name Steve or its variations…” Tiglao comes up with an Eduardo Vespiras who, he claims, is an “undersecretary at the Presidential Communications Operations Office.”
Tiglao pontificates on: “Steve Vespera is a fabricated name, obviously used by Mr. Aquino’s camp in its efforts to vilify Corona in one of the most ruthless and most well-funded black propaganda campaigns against an individual I’ve seen in my years as a journalist.” (There’s that word again!)
I find it difficult to believe the maturity of grown men who fondle their firearms as if they were parts of themselves, but I have no respect whatsoever for theorists or “speculators” who play “detective” or “lawyer,” for that matter, with nothing more than ulterior motive as basis.
While at this, let me suggest to Tiglao that he read “A Man For All Seasons” by Robert Bolt.
It’s about a real lawyer, in fact the patron saint of lawyers, as Tiglao surely knows—St. Thomas More.
And might I suggest, too, owing to his being on the constant lookout for the bogus—what irony!—that he rename his column from “Outlook” to “Lookout.”
