Senate, surrogate people’s court

Sixteen votes needed to convict Chief Justice Renato Corona?

With all the doubts swirling around his head, and his being held in such low public esteem, one would hope Chief Justice Corona would insist on gaining 16 votes, or preferably a unanimous vote, for acquittal.

This is not a criminal trial which needs proof beyond reasonable doubt to convict. And the Senate impeachment court clearly understands that it’s a surrogate people’s court.
