Trees as tourist attraction

/ 01:03 AM May 24, 2012

Why doesn’t the Department of Environment and Natural Resources spearhead the planting of flowering trees on our expressways from the north and south of Metro Manila?

Flowering trees such as golden showers, fire trees and banaba with their riot of yellow, orange and violet colors could add color to our drab looking highways.

With the onset of the rainy season, now is the right time to go on a massive tree planting of these flowering trees. If Japan has cherry blossoms, the Philippines can have these trees as added tourist attraction and come-on to  our “more fun in the Philippines” campaign.

Although it takes years for these trees to grow and mature, the end product would definitely go a long way in beautifying our expressways.
