This refers to Terence Iles’ letter, “Suppressed evidence admissible defense?” (Inquirer, 5/17/12)
Iles tried to avoid mentioning the name of Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago.
Senator Santiago is a well-known political butterfly who always sips the nectar of power in bloom—Erap Estrada, Gloria Arroyo and now, Renato Corona.
But she can’t sip the nectar of People Power, although she is a beneficiary.
Before talking to Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales, Senator Santiago, claiming to be all-knowing when it comes to the Constitution, made it known to the whole world the constitutional expert she purports to be. Her questions phrased in flowery words were repeated by Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano more simply and with less legal innuendos.
