Loren Legarda’s ‘journalistic objectivity’ in display

Kudos to Sen. Loren Legarda for not losing her journalistic roots in the ongoing impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona.

As a student of journalism, I intently watch the television coverage of the impeachment trial as a class requirement in Media Law and Ethics.

Watching the trial reminds me of the Philippine Journalist’s Code of Ethics, where one of the pledges is: I shall presume persons accused of crime of being innocent until proven otherwise.

We have been told many times that if one cannot beat the system, especially in politics, better join the system. Seeing Loren’s behavior proves that there can be  exceptions. Her questioning of Land Registration Authority administrator Eulalio Diaz III was objectivity (which is taught to us in class) in display.
