Dirty tricks department

We respond to the scurrilous letter to the editor against Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago last March 29, accompanied by a photo tending to show her in the worst possible light.

From our long association with the senator, we in her staff are already familiar with the tactics of the dirty tricks department of various political factions. We are sorry that this particular faction has again used the Inquirer to advance its nefarious campaign of black propaganda as dictated by its principal operating from the Palace.

Senator Santiago is the most experienced and accomplished judge in the Senate sitting as an impeachment court. The insidious plan to destroy the credibility of the senator—hatched since the impeachment hearings started— only reinforces the fact that she poses a serious threat to her enemies’ plans to undermine the impeachment proceedings.
