Is ‘other people’s bias’ Inquirer’s advocacy?

This refers to the Letters to the Editor section of the Inquirer last March 7, particularly two letters from your readers attacking Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago.

By favoring the detractors of Senator Santiago over other letters, the letters section may have put into question the Inquirer’s impartiality and sense of journalistic balance.

We appeal to the powers-that-be of the Inquirer to be vigilant of the practice of favoring one side of the issue. Please do not let your readers misconstrue other people’s bias as your advocacy.

—FATIMA LIPP D. PANONTONGAN,

deputy chief of staff,

Office of Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago
