Unusually high Maynilad water bill revised

This is in reference to the letter, titled “Common sense, please,” of Bienvenido S. Atienza. (Inquirer, 3/2/12)

We noted the dramatic increase in his water bill and referred the case to our technical team for investigation. In our experience, such a spike is not entirely uncommon because of the prevalence of underground leaks and illegal tapping within our service area, so we immediately requested for an ocular inspection of his service connection.

After completing the investigation, our technical team determined that an error was committed in the reading of his water consumption. Our Cavite Business Area has since filed for a revision of his January billing.

We sincerely apologize for whatever inconvenience this situation may have caused Atienza, and encourage all our customers to likewise be vigilant in monitoring their monthly bills.

Any dramatic increase in water charges should be directly reported to the Maynilad Business Area office that has jurisdiction of the account so that a prompt investigation may be conducted.
