SSS clarifies amnesty for late loan payments

This is in reference to the news item published in the Inquirer’s Jan. 11 issue, titled “Pag-Ibig, SSS offer amnesty on unpaid loan penalties.” We would like to clarify the news lead which states:

“The Social Security System and Pag-Ibig Fund are offering some members and employers full or partial relief on penalties for unpaid loans and unremitted contributions, according to officials.”

The SSS is not offering an amnesty on late contributions. What we announced recently was an amnesty on penalties on delinquent loan accounts, which will begin on April 2 this year.

Lest our member-readers get confused by this article, we are making this clarification and are calling on our members to check the SSS website at www.sss.gov.ph for more information about the new condonation of penalties program for delinquent loans.
