Mar warned to be more careful
I was bothered when I heard the news about the Department of Transportation and Communications’ impending takeover of the project to develop the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) in Clark. I am apprehensive that this project to transform DMIA into the country’s premiere international airport may soon become another failed and corruption-riddled DOTC-led project like the NorthRail, Piatco’s Naia Terminal 3 and the aborted NBN-ZTE deal.
While I trust in the leadership and capability of Secretary Mar Roxas, I am worried that the same people within the DOTC who took part in the past controversial projects are once again involved in the development of DMIA. It pains me to see that despite these billion-peso controversies, no one in the DOTC has been held accountable and punished for those misdeeds.
I hope Roxas will be careful in choosing the people he can trust because I wouldn’t want to see his good name destroyed by a few whose only aim is to use their positions in the DOTC for their own personal gain.
