For many years the Inquirer has been my favorite newspaper. But recently I would have canceled my subscription were it not for the fact that I don’t want to miss my favorite columnists Conrado de Quiros, Randy David and Rina Jimenez-David. The reason I thought of canceling my subscription was that Inquirer still gives so much space to two columnists who have such a terrible bias against President Aquino, namely Amando Doronila and Rigoberto Tiglao.
On Dec. 26, 2011, the Inquirer ran a front-page article of Doronila, which had the title: “Tyrannical tendency of P-Noy unmasked.” I think that was a waste of paper and ink.
Inquirer could have made better use of the money spent for the paper and ink by donating the amount to the victims of the recent calamity in Cagayan de Oro.
Does the Inquirer have these two columnist to give a balanced view on the political realities in our country? Many weeks ago I sent a letter to the Inquirer about the impeachment of Chief Justice Renato Corona, arguing that our judicial system is a constant indictment to the Spirit of the Law, which I believe is the Spirit of God Himself. To me, a very relevant topic indeed. But I am still waiting for the publication of that letter. (The Opinion desk didn’t receive such letter. And not all letters we receive get published.—Ed.)
By the way, the Inquirer encourages readers thus: “If you have any complaints, grievances or suggestions about the treatment of news by the Inquirer, you may e-mail: readersadvocate.com.ph.” I have done this several times, but every time my e-mail is returned undelivered. Could the Inquirer please check this out too?
