Source of De los Santos materials

Re my letter, “Renaming Edsa to Cory Aquino Avenue” (Inquirer, 11/24/11), I wish to give credit to Ricci F. Barrios for the items in the resumé of Epifanio de los Santos. I have a clipping of the article of Barrios which is now yellowed with age.

In fact, I cannot recall anymore the publication or newspaper where it appeared. I have gone through many books and publications on Philippine history but could not find a comprehensive background and account on the life of De los Santos. Barrios’ account proved to be the most complete.

My apologies to Barrios for my failure to give him credit for the information on De los Santos’ resumé. I had to rush my letter, fearful that House Bill 5422, sponsored by Bohol Rep. Rene Relampagos, changing Edsa to Cory Aquino Avenue, would be fast-tracked in the House of Representatives, thus depriving De los Santos of his rightful place in Philippine history.
