Alternative view to ‘balance’ Randy David’s take on Trump 2.0
Equally concerned about what is happening to the United States, which is host to about 5 million Filipino migrants, allow us to present another view to Randy David’s “Can US institutions survive Trump II?” (Public Lives, 3/24/24).
David wrote of Trump: “[A] demagogue who had done so much to undermine [the] stability and traditions” (of the Republican Party, including US institutions); while of Biden: “[He] can be accused of having a faltering memory, but he can never be charged with deliberately mocking the law, or, worse, turning the law into a weapon to be used against perceived political enemies.”
David noted only two things: Trump’s “disastrous handling” of the COVID-19 pandemic and his “insurrection” to snooker Biden from assuming the presidency in 2020. David forgot to mention that it was Dr. Anthony Fauci who controlled all the false narrative about COVID-19 and was shilling for the Democratic Party that was seen only later on to have his back all along on the “disastrous” public health protocols. David likewise has turned a blind eye to the other probability that that “insurrection” was orchestrated by the Democratic Party itself to make Trump look like “an antidemocratic demagogue … who is completely devoid of decency.” YouTube has been airing all sides of the propaganda churned out by opinion-makers allied with the Democrats and the Republicans.
But who has, in fact, “weaponized” the levers of government for political ends? David did not cite any instance of probative value that Trump did that. On the other hand, Biden has activated his Department of Justice through its blindly obedient district attorneys across the United States to bring all kinds of crazy charges against Trump, obviously intended to cripple his presidential campaign and drive him out of business. The most notable is the “civil fraud case” filed by New York DA Letitia James and decided by New York Judge Arthur Engoron, both dyed-in-the-wool Democrats.
Then there’s Biden’s “open border” policy allowing all kinds of illegal immigrants to come in, thereby making a mockery of all US immigration laws and flooding the US with millions of unvetted border crossers. On orders from the White House, border guards are now welcoming them with open arms and letting them avail themselves of all sorts of freebies all at the expense of hard-working US citizens/taxpayers. And to top it all, Biden has incentivized millions of them with a promise of blanket amnesty coupled with the right to vote (for Democrats, of course).With due respect to David, it’s really “game over” for the United States if Biden wins.
