To raise better kids

/ 09:17 PM November 07, 2011

As a concerned citizen I cannot just watch corruption getting worse without doing anything to stop it. It is indeed noticeable that this perennial morality problem is being addressed like a merry-go-round that keeps on spinning in the same direction. We must admit that the present solution is a failure because the “kanya-kanya” and “bahala na” attitudes of the people have become obstacles in the war on corruption.

Fighting corruption should not just be the government’s concern; it should also be the people’s. We cannot fight corruption without enlisting the people in this war, but we cannot get the people into the fight without changing their culture. If we can have a culture of corruption, we can also have a culture of honesty.

Parents must have overlooked that values formation starts in the home. What the parents do, teach and say, whether right or wrong, is inculcated in the minds of their children most especially those in their formative years. Remember, the Filipino child is not just a mouth to feed or a soul to care for; he is also a mind to nurture.

This is the very reason why I formed a movement called Crusade for a Better Youth of Tomorrow and authored a Filipino children’s  book to guide parents in raising their children the right way for them to become better children of God and better citizens of tomorrow.

If you love our country, I am inviting readers to help raise a new breed of Filipinos in the generations to come by joining this movement. It is hoped, in the future, corruption will no longer exist.
