In search of women networking power

Quote card for Women Who Lead: In search of women networking power

Every Nov. 19, we celebrate Women’s Entrepreneurship Day to acknowledge the contributions and honor the accomplishments of women in entrepreneurship and business. The transforming role performed by networking organizations for women entrepreneurs is a crucial component of this celebration. In this article, we delve into the significance of this event and explore the wealth of advantages that women entrepreneurs experience when they join these vibrant networking organizations.

To start, I would like to highlight some key points on why networking is necessary for women to thrive in entrepreneurship.

1. The influence of connection. Networking offers a supporting web of connections, as well as the resources, insights, and tools required to be successful.

2. Taking on special challenges. Networking organizations provide women entrepreneurs a safe space where challenges like gender bias and a lack of representation can be openly discussed and jointly addressed.

3. Mentoring and providing direction for entrepreneurs. A systematic framework for seasoned entrepreneurs to mentor and encourage individuals who are just starting in their ventures is provided by these organizations.

4. Access to opportunities and resources. Joining a networking organization for women entrepreneurs opens doors to opportunities, alliances, and collaborations.

Realizing the vision. Allow me to introduce the Network for Enterprising Women (NEW). Founded in 2006, NEW’s mission is “to help women entrepreneurs in their entrepreneurship journey by providing support, guidance, and friendship to build a collaborative relationship with fellow business owners and potential partners.”

NEW is composed of exemplary members who are successful in launching their businesses in a range of industries and sizes. Our members — Tamang Timpla Foods, Milea Bee Farm, Moonleaf Tea Shop, Nuevo Ystilo, Scarlet Enterprise, Diwatang Maria, Imagere, MBCI Events, and FH Moms — have received local and international recognition through representation and awards.

As a women’s business group, NEW organizes seminars and workshops aimed at sharing best practices and trends in the market through innovation and collaboration. Through our alliance with a larger network called the Philippine Women’s Economic Network (PhilWEN), a coalition that actively engages in advocacy efforts, NEW is provided with a platform to discuss women’s issues in business and offer potential solutions to issues faced by women entrepreneurs through promoting local enabling policies as well as those in Asean.

Most importantly, joining like-minded business groups is beneficial for women entrepreneurs who are looking to network with peers and learn new trends and opportunities. Some of the advantages include:

1. A sustainable ecosystem to be grown. A networking organization puts women entrepreneurs in a nurturing environment where women support one another as they overcome obstacles and celebrate victories together.

2. Opportunities unlocked through collaboration. It offers a productive environment for cooperation where like-minded people with a variety of skill sets can mingle.

3. Exchange of knowledge and continuous learning. Members can stay current on industry trends, hone their skills, and learn from others’ experiences through workshops, seminars, and panel discussions.

4. Increasing trust and visibility. Participating in networking events helps people become more confident and visible. Women entrepreneurs serve as inspirations to others who are thinking about starting their own businesses.

5. Advocating positive change as a group. Beyond individual accomplishments, networking organizations for women entrepreneurs become a powerful force for positive change, addressing issues such as gender bias and creating awareness about policies that support women in business.

6. Keeping personal and professional life in balance. It offers a forum for members to discuss time management techniques and general well-being to balance personal and professional obligations.

As Women’s Entrepreneurship Day approaches every year, it is more than just a celebration; it is a call to action. One way to respond to this call is to sign up for networking organizations for women entrepreneurs such as NEW. These groups create a welcoming environment and open doors for women entrepreneurs through collaboration and advocacy, acting as catalysts for their success.

Today and every day, let us honor women’s accomplishments and actively contribute to the story of women’s empowerment and advancement in business.
