The Department of Education’s Bureau of Secondary Education created the Internet-based Distance Education Program (iDEP) and the Open High School Program (OHSP) as alternative ways for students to complete their education in an attempt to reduce high school dropout rates in the country.
iDEP offers formal secondary education to qualifying students using Internet-based technologies. In iDEP, classes are conducted and managed completely online.
OHSP is an alternative mode of formal secondary education program, which provides an opportunity for elementary graduates, high school drop-outs and successful examinees of the Philippine Education Placement Test to complete secondary education in a purely distance-learning mode.
