How nice to read the March 6 issue about the CCP HD setup with the Metropolitan Opera of New York.
This is a wonderful thing, considering the role classical music plays in human health and learning. It has long been found that music improves learning math and that classical music provides brain stimulation. Music therapy is standard practice. What’s more, among super-learning techniques, baroque music — Handel, Vivaldi, etc. — has been found to empower the mind with its steady beat.
It would be a great project for the CCP to work on introducing young children to classical music. School bands, for example, could take part in a “Peter and the Wolf” children’s festival. Disney’s “Fantasia” is available on DVD. Mickey Mouse plays “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”
