A year ago, my wife and I applied for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) national ID. Despite the assurance of the processor that said IDs will be mailed to our residential address in about six months, we have not received said IDs to date. Other relatives/friends who also applied during the same period have also wondered when they will receive their IDs, too.
What really drove us to apply was the initial information we got that said national ID will replace other government-issued IDs.
Upon checking the latest update regarding PhilSys, I gathered that said IDs, after all, will not necessarily replace the other government-issued IDs.
Truth is, I would have wanted just a national ID instead of the so many IDs that I carry with me, and to get away from the refutation that Filipinos (like me) allegedly are the “most-IDed” people in the whole world. Honestly, I have about 15-20 IDs to date.
Hoping for the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-PhilSys to facilitate the release/issuance of our national ID.
And finally, I suggest for PSA-PhilSys to slow down in its aggressive campaign to entice people to register for the said ID, especially if there will be delays in its issuance. Otherwise, more and more Filipinos will harbor ill-feelings against the government in this regard.
